Iowa Congressman David Young issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.Con.Res 71, Establishing the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2018 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2019 through 2027.

"This budget blueprint sets the course for the single most important thing we can do to help Iowa's middle class because it means the first tax relief and simplification for hardworking Iowans in over 30 years is on schedule. This allows for the common sense plan which will cut individual tax rates, double the standard deduction, and increase the Child Tax Credit. Together, this relief will allow Iowa workers and families to keep more of their hard-earned money," said Congressman Young. "Iowa's hardworking middle-income taxpayers deserve a break, and they deserve a raise and it is long overdue. And today, the budget passed by the House will allow those important goals to get done in 2017."
