UDALL SUPPORTS ENERGY BILL

WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Tom Udall, D-N.M., Thursday voted for the Conference Report on H.R. 6, the "National Energy Policy Act of 2005."

"This bill is not what I would have written. I believe we need to bring greater balance to our nation's energy policy especially during these times of record oil prices," Udall said. "I voted for the conference report, however, because it truly is historic in providing pioneering tax incentives for conservation and alternate energy development.

"I want to commend Senators Domenici and Bingaman for working together in a bipartisan manner on this energy bill. They stood firm against the House conferees and negotiated a final bill that is much better than what the House originally passed," he concluded.
