Manchin Statement on Affirmation of Blankenship Conviction

U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) today released the following statement on the U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals affirmation of the conviction of former Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship.

"Nearly seven years after 29 brave miners were tragically killed at the Upper Big Branch mine, the U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the conviction of former Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship. No amount of time in jail will heal the hearts of the families who have been forever devastated but I pray that the affirmation of the conviction brings them some closure. I hope today's decision also compels Don Blankenship to finally accept responsibility for his criminal actions."
