Issue Position

As a former police officer and prosecutor, Tommy Pope knows firsthand what evil looks like, and he knows how important it is to secure our communities.

He believes we must protect our communities from danger, treat our heroes -- from those who serve in fatigues in far-away lands to the men and women who form the thin blue line here in South Carolina -- with the respect they deserve, and never stop our fight to provide security, hope, and opportunity for our citizens.

Tommy knows we need a real strategy to destroy ISIS in the Middle East and that President Obama's "hands off" approach has made the world less safe and less secure. Tommy supports "Peace through Strength" and pledges to provide our military with the resources it needs to keep us safe.

But Tommy believes we must go further to keep families in the 5th Congressional District safe. Tommy Pope agrees with President Trump that we should A) build a wall along the Southern border, B) stop the flow of immigration into America from countries that harbor terrorists and institute "extreme vetting" on refugees, and C) cut off federal funding from so-called "sanctuary cities" that refuse to enforce our immigration laws.

In addition, Tommy Pope supports and has sought the death penalty for those convicted of violent crimes. He supports the United States' right to execute terrorists captured on our soil.
