Video: Menendez Vows to Fight Trump Executive Orders, Defend American Values

U.S. Senator Bob Menendez today pledged to do everything he can legislatively to try to defund the efforts tied to President Trump's executive orders, to push back on legislation that would further the executive orders, and to mobilize communities to rise up and speak up against Trump's executive orders, which he said defy who we are as a nation.

The senator made his comments following a meeting with U.S. Senator Cory Booker, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, and advocates from across the region to discuss the potential impact of President Trump's immigration executive orders on New Jersey's and our nation's communities.

Also taking part in the meeting were: Prospect Park Mayor Mohamed T. Khairullah, who is a Syrian immigrant; Anju Gupta, Immigrant Rights Clinic, Rutgers School of Law; Jeanne LoCicero, ACLU; Johanna Calle, New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice; Jessica Ramirez, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark; Jorge Torres, Unidad Latina en Accion; Debby Alter, Jewish Family Services of Middlesex County; Chia-Chia Wang, American Friends Service Committee; Rosa Santana, First Friends; Giancarlo Tello, UndocuJersey; Katilia Velez, Ironbound Community Corporation; and Siobhan Dennehy, Emerald Isle Immigration Center.
