Pelosi Statement on Withdrawal of Labor Secretary Nominee Andrew Puzder

Statement

Date: Feb. 15, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today released this statement after Andrew Puzder's withdrawal from consideration as Secretary of the Department of Labor nominee:

"Andrew Puzder's withdrawal is the latest example of President Trump's disastrous judgement, and a powerful sign of Americans' growing mobilization against the Republican agenda.

"With his storied anti-worker record, degrading treatment of women, attempts to strip health coverage, and efforts to block bigger paychecks for hard-working families, Puzder should have never been considered to lead the Labor Department in the first place.

"Nominating Puzder exposed the true face of the Trump Administration's agenda to undermine workers' rights and wages. We must be just as engaged against the next nominee chosen to advance the same destructive anti-worker agenda."
