Statement on the Release of Clean Power Plan Model Rule Working Drafts

Statement

Issues: Environment

Congressman Kevin Cramer issued the following statement regarding the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) releasing its Clean Power Plan Model Rule working drafts, viewable here.

"The release of these working drafts is nothing more than manipulation disguised as transparency. It's clearly a nudge by the EPA to the states to try and get them to adopt a cap-and-trade program that the Congress of the United States has already rejected. The incoming President has also made it very clear there will be no cap-and-trade policy forthcoming. What this really reminds us is that it's time to end the illegal power grabs, and a reminder that we need to not rest -- but to double down on our diligence as pro-growth, pro-job Republicans to ensure future environmental policy is guided by regular order, not executive fiat."

Cramer has been a vocal opponent of the Clean Power Plan Model and the EPA's lack of transparency during the rulemaking.
