Congressman Farenthold Applauds Passage of Military Authorization Bill

Statement

Date: Dec. 2, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed S. 2943, authorizing Department of Defense operations while instituting conservative reforms. Included in the bill were provisions to provide a full 2.1% pay raise to our service members, increase operations and maintenance and provide relief to National Guardsmen who were told they would have to pay back their enlistment bonuses.

"This bill is essential to restoring strength to our military," Congressman Farenthold said. "It's the primary way Congress "provides for the common defense,' authorizing vital funding to the military, its programs and its facilities, including the Naval Air Station Corpus Christi (NASCC) and Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD). Specifically, it includes increased ground and aviation training and greater operations and maintenance support for military depots while keeping wasteful spending in check."
