Sinema Statement on VAOIG Report on Management Issues at the Phoenix VA

Statement

Date: Oct. 5, 2016
Location: Phoenix, AZ

Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema released the following statement in response to the VA Office of Inspector General (VAOIG) report detailing continued failures at the Phoenix VA:

"It's been more than two years since we learned about the tragic failures at the Phoenix VA -- issues that should have been fixed immediately. This report shows an unacceptable lack of progress.

"The Phoenix VA needs stable, competent leadership to change its culture and address these problems once and for all. If they cannot find this kind of leadership within the VA, it's time to look elsewhere. We cannot wait any longer.

"The VA cannot continue to sweep these problems under the rug. That's why I passed legislation in the House of Representatives to require the VA to address problems identified by the VAOIG and ensure individual managers are held accountable if issues remain unresolved. We need this legislation signed into law to ensure these warning are not ignored again."
