Sheridan Questions Calvert's Silence

Statement

Date: Oct. 9, 2016
Location: Lake Elsinore, CA
Issues: Women Elections

Tim Sheridan said today that he finds Congressman Calvert's silence about Donald Trump's record of mistreatment of women very troubling.

The California Democratic Party's candidate in the 42nd Congressional District called on every woman in his district to question the moral foundation of the 23-year incumbent Congressman.

"We've become accustomed to Mr. Calvert's inaction and silence in California's 42nd," said Sheridan. "But for him to say nothing about the Washington Post revelation is tantamount to endorsement of Mr. Trump's comments and inappropriate behavior. We are left wondering who Ken Calvert really is and what he really stands for."

Sheridan pointed out that in 1994, after months of denial, Ken Calvert admitted to having sex in a car with a woman known to police as a prostitute, according to a Los Angles Times article (http://articles.latimes.com/1994-04-27/news/mn-50942_1_riverside-county)

"Everyone in our District should be deeply concerned about Mr. Calvert's and Mr. Trump's personal failings," Sheridan added. "We need leaders with strong ethical character. Look within your heart and decide if Mr. Calvert and Mr. Trump truly represent you and your moral code."

"As far as I'm concerned, there's no room in California's 42nd Congressional District for those that choose to exploit and disparage women," Sheridan concluded.

California's 42nd Congressional District, a geographical area shaped like the letter "X." runs along the I-15 corridor from Eastvale, southeast to Temecula, and northeast along the I-215 and CA-79 corridors to Beaumont. It also includes the communities of Corona, Norco, Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, Murrieta, Menifee, Sun City, Winchester, Homeland and Nuevo. Mr. Sheridan lives in Lake Elsinore.
