Schakowsky Statement on Government Funding Bill

Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky released the following statement after the House passed a Continuing Resolution to fund the government through December 9. This bill also included funding to combat the Zika virus that has impacted many states on the Gulf Coast and Puerto Rico:

"I am pleased that this funding bill avoids yet another manufactured Republican shutdown, but it only funds our government through December 9. We have just over two months to put together a bill that funds critical priorities from education to infrastructure. I will fight for these priorities and fight against Republican attempts to cut critical programs and enact divisive policy changes as we fulfill the basic task of keeping our government running."

"I am also pleased that both House and Senate Democrats stood united to secure critical funding to address the Zika virus and protect women's health. We must continue supporting treatment, prevention, and research to address this public health emergency."
