United States Representative Cresent Hardy (R-NV) today released the following statement after voting for the Iranian Leadership Asset Transparency Act (H.R. 5461):

"With foundations run by Iran's top political and military leaders controlling a third of Iran's economy, transparency about regime leaders' assets is one way to hold the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism accountable. The online accounting of corrupt Iranian officials' financial dealings created by this bill will serve as an important resource for the American people to ensure money isn't being funneled to terrorist organizations that are a clear and present danger to the United States."

The Iranian Leadership Asset Transparency Act would require the Treasury Secretary to develop and post online a list estimating the "funds and assets" held by senior Iranian political and military leaders, along with a description of how they acquired the assets and how those assets are employed.

H.R. 5461 passed by a vote of 282-143.
