In 2013, I helped to pass a landmark Clean Energy Act that establishes a solar energy standard of 1.5% by the year 2020, with a stated goal of 10% solar by 2030. In 2014 we worked to pass further sustainable energy policies. In 2015 and 2016 I fought back against GOP attacks promoting drastic change in favor of increased fossil fuel consumption. The time to diversify our energy portfolio is now. I have been a strong supporter of renewable energy policy, and have worked to reduce fossil fuel reliance all across Minnesota.

My position on the environment has not changed since I first ran for state office in 2012.

1. We can not roll back any of Minnesota's standards regarding protection of the environment. Not for corporate reasons, not for municipal cost complaints, and not for political grandstanding.

2. We need to fully fund the MPCA and the DNR. Agencies who are charged with enforcing these standards are personnel dependent. We cannot afford to allow any processes to go unmonitored -- to do so is incredibly disingenuous to the State of Minnesota.

3. We must respect the processes established in law. And to be unequivocally clear, all of these points have to work in tandem to be successful. There need not be competition between labor and the environment. It is not only possible, it is imperative for the future of our party to ensure these groups work together.

I am proud of my 100% labor voting record in the legislature. I am equally as proud of my 100% clean water, clean energy, and sustainable policy voting record. I am endorsed by environmental groups, and labor groups, all based on my experience and history of working together in the Minnesota Legislature.

I have not changed since 2012 -- and I will not change as I represent you in the Minnesota Senate for years to come.
