Rep. Marino Praises Sunbury Pipeline Project

On Wednesday, construction for what will be the 35-mile-long Sunbury Pipeline began in Shamokin Dam. The pipeline is being built by UGI Energy Services and will be located entirely within north central Pennsylvania. It will carry natural gas from Lycoming County through parts of Montour, Northumberland, Union and Snyder counties on its way to the Hummel Station power plant. The pipeline is scheduled for completion by the end of the year and once operational, the pipeline will provide enough natural gas to power approximately 1 million homes.

Rep. Tom Marino (PA-10) released the following statement after today's groundbreaking:

"The Sunbury Pipeline is being built by a Pennsylvania company, using Pennsylvania resources, to provide natural gas to all Pennsylvanians. The project will bring hundreds of jobs to the Commonwealth, stimulate the local economy and enhance energy reliability. The construction of this pipeline would not have been possible without the continuous and tireless efforts of our local municipalities, state representatives and senators, and federal officials. Today we were able to finally break ground on a project that represents a huge step forward for the energy industry. I look forward to seeing our communities benefit from its construction and future operation."
