Gottheimer Blasts Garrett's Empty Words and Failed Record to Stand with Veterans, the National Guard and Reserve, & First Responders

After the Law Enforcement Show of Strength event in Teaneck this morning, Josh Gottheimer, Congressional Candidate for the Fifth District, lambasted Tea Partier Scott Garrett for claiming that he stands by our veterans, National Guard and Reserve, and first responders, when his record demonstrates the polar opposite.

Garrett even had the audacity to say that Representative Bill Pascrell and he are "on the same page," while Garrett has consistently failed to support our veterans, our National Guard and Reserve, and our first responders.

"Garrett's comments are offensive to those who serve -- and have served -- and to Bill Pascrell, a Congressman and veteran, who has been an ardent champion of those who keep us safe," said Gottheimer. "The least we can do is make sure our servicemembers return home to open arms, not Scott Garrett's cold shoulder."

Garrett has spent his career standing by the Tea Party instead of standing by those who defend us abroad and keep our families safe at home. His failed record is crystal clear. As President Reagan said, "Facts are stubborn things."
