Jay Inslee: Zero Leadership on Education

Statement

Date: April 1, 2016
Issues: K-12 Education

Bryant's comments regarding Jay Inslee's inability to officially act to protect charter schools:

Today is a victory for the over 1,000 kids attending a charter school and for all kids wanting an equal chance to get ahead.

Washington's publicly chartered schools serve some of the most disadvantaged kids in our midst. They free teachers to teach, and are engines for education, innovation and individualized learning.

Congratulations to the kids, parents and teachers who spent hours helping pass this legislation.

Gov. Inslee's refusal to sign the charter school bill, once again reveals his total inability to lead and his disinterest in fixing an education system that fails about 25% of our kids. In three and a half years, Inslee has demonstrated less than zero leadership on education, and by refusing to take a position on charter schools, has shown political favors are more important to him than kids.
