As your State Representative in Olympia, Brad has worked hard to approve balanced budgets and will continue his efforts to be a good steward of public dollars in the Senate. The legislature approves three budgets for the State of Washington on a two-year basis. The Operating Budget provides for the day-to-day functions of state government, include education, human services, and public safety. The current budget for 2015-17 is approximately $38.4 billion. The Transportation Budget funds the Washington State Patrol and the Department of Transportation and is approximately $8.8 billion. The Capital Budget funds public facilities and infrastructure and is approximately $3.8 billion.

Brad understands budgeting and the importance of being a responsible steward of public dollars. He has worked hard to help ensure that the state has approved responsible, bipartisan budgets. His Master's Degree from George Washington University focused on managing state and local governments. Prior to being elected as State Representative, Brad was responsible for approving and overseeing an approximate $13 million annual budget during his service for the North Central Educational Service District Board and an approximate $50 million annual budget for Eastmont School Board. He volunteered for the Eastmont Board following an announced financial crisis and helped guide the district to financial stability and much success. Brad will continue to build on all of his prior budget experience--both locally and at the legislature--during his efforts in the senate.
