Jason prioritizes funding roads and bridges before rails. In St. Paul, Jason proudly voted for the Road and Bridge Act of 2015. This proposal would have provided long term transportation funding without a gas tax increase by dedicating taxes already collected on purchases like tires and auto parts to a special fund strictly for roads and bridges.

A new 6.5% gas tax, as proposed by DFL leaders, would have been the largest gas tax increase in state history. According to a 2015 Cost of Living Report from DEED, a family of three in Kanabec County has the highest yearly transportation costs in Minnesota at $18,852 per year, while Pine County citizens rank third at $17,148 per year. Families and their neigbors simply cannot afford this DFL proposal.

Jason believes there are better ways to solve our long term transportation needs than raising gas taxes.
