Michigan is ranked the worst state in the nation for accountability based on indicators such as public access to records, political financing and legislative accountability -- and is one of a handful of states that exempt the Governor's office and the Legislature from the Freedom of Information Act. As a result, we have the Republican plan to spend $134 million on new legislative offices to reward for one of their campaign donors, the Flint water crisis, and the Detroit schools fiasco. Cyndi will stand up for transparency in government and integrity in public service and support legislation that requires the Governor and Legislature to abide by the Freedom of Information Act.
