Nearly $1 Million in Federal Funding Awarded to West Virginia Airports

Today, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) announced a total of $990,000 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for two West Virginia airports.

Wheeling Ohio County Airport will receive $315,000 to update the airport master plan and layout plans for future development projects. Additionally, $675,000 has been awarded to the Morgantown Municipal-Walter L. Bill Hart Field Airport in Monongalia County to support the Taxiway C lighting system project, an important safety measure.

"When we invest in our infrastructure, we invest in good jobs for hardworking West Virginians and in the future of our economy,"Senator Manchin said. "With this funding, the Wheeling Ohio County Airport and the Morgantown Municipal-Walter L. Bill Hart Field Airport will be able to upgrade and rehabilitate their infrastructure to help prevent accidents, injuries and also lay the foundation for economic growth across West Virginia."

"Maintaining reliable airports in West Virginia is critical for our residents and our economy," said Senator Capito. "As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I worked to help secure this important funding, which will help West Virginians in Monongalia and Ohio counties enjoy safe and efficient travel from these airports."
