Today, Republican US Senate Candidate Dan Carter called on Senator Blumenthal to demand the Connecticut Democrat Party return funds raised off the deaths of the Orlando terror victims:

"I know the Connecticut Democrat Party is desperate for contributions after being fined a record breaking $325,000 for circumventing campaign finance laws, but raising money on the backs of innocent victims of terror is reprehensible," said Carter.

"Senator Blumenthal has always claimed to be a victim's advocate, but today he's just like all the people he's prosecuted for taking advantage of innocent victims," said Carter. "What an incredible disappointment."

"Even Congressman John Larson, Senator Blumenthal's colleague in the House, has said Democrats should not have been fundraising off the Orlando tragedy," Carter added. "Where is Senator Blumenthal? Why hasn't he called on the Connecticut Democrat Party to return the money?"

"Since the terrorist attack in Orlando the Connecticut Democrat Party has sent at least twelve fundraising e-mails using the tragedy of these families to fill their campaign coffers," Carter said. "This is proof this is more about politics than solutions."

"Senator Blumenthal should call on his Party to return these funds and make a donation to support the victims and their families," Carter said. "As has too often been the case, Senator Blumenthal is making a national tragedy about a partisan agenda and campaign fundraising."
