"Voting "YES!' on the floor of the Senate for marriage equality for all Delawareans is one of the proudest moments of my public service."
-Bryan Townsend
We have come a long way towards LGBT equality in just the past decade. Marriage equality is now the law of the land in our country, and a number of states (including Delaware) have taken the lead in working to end discrimination against members of the LGBT community.

However, there is more work that needs to be done at the national and international levels. We must strive to end discrimination in all forms. More needs to be done to end bullying and reduce teen suicides, especially among LGBT youth. We must reduce the disproportionate rate of violence against members of the LGBT community, especially transgender women of color. Discriminatory standards for blood-donor eligibility should be ended. And the United States should strive to promote and protect human rights, including LGBT rights, worldwide.

In Congress, Bryan will work to help pass the Equality Act, which would provide protections for LGBT individuals against discrimination in employment, housing, healthcare, credit, and other areas. In addition, he will support the Restore Honor to Service Members Act, to correct the records for LGBT veterans unjustly discharged under Don't Ask Don't Tell. Bryan will also work to ban the inhumane practice of conversion therapy, by helping pass the Therapeutic Fraud Prevention Act. And he'll be a champion for transgender Americans, protecting them from hate crimes and removing barriers to success. As Bryan has been in the Delaware Senate, he will be a leading voice on treating all Americans equally.
