Rangel Calls for Justice for Alton Sterling

Statement

Date: July 7, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Charles B. Rangel, who represents the 13th Congressional District of New York that includes Upper Manhattan and parts of the Bronx, released the following statement in response to the shooting of Alton Sterling by officers of the Baton Rouge Police Department:

"I am deeply troubled by another tragically familiar shooting of Alton Sterling by officers of the Baton Rouge Police Department. As I send my prayers to his family and loved ones, I call on the U.S. Department of Justice to conduct a full and transparent investigation into this incident to ensure justice for Mr. Sterling. We deserve to know the truth behind the video footage and demand answers to questions surrounding his death. Until justice is served, we must keep saying: Not one more."
