Speaker Appoints Hardy to National Defense Authorization Act Conference Committee

Press Release

The U.S. House of Representatives today agreed to go to conference with the U.S. Senate to advance the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY 2017, the nation's primary defense policy bill that will restore military readiness and provide our service members with a much deserved pay raise.

The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, for the second time in as many years, has selected Congressman Hardy (R-NV) to represent the House Natural Resources Committee on the NDAA conference committee. Hardy touted his selection as a benefit for Nevada's military installations.

"As the Representative of Nevada's Fourth Congressional District, home to Nellis and Creech Air Force Bases and the Hawthorne Army Depot, I'm pleased to again have the opportunity to come to the table with my colleagues from the Natural Resources Committee to produce a strong bill for our men and women in uniform," said Hardy. "I am eager to work together so that we can adequately restore our nation's military readiness while also being good stewards of our God given resources."

This marks the fourth time Hardy has been selected to serve on a conference committee during his first term in Congress.

Last year, Hardy served as an NDAA Conferee.
Hardy also served as a conferee for the FAST Act last year where he was able to secure authorization for I-11 expansion between Reno and Las Vegas.
Hardy is currently serving as a conferee on the first comprehensive energy package being considered by the U.S. Congress in over 10 years.
