Issue Position: Technology and Telecommunications

Issue Position

The rise of the Internet and mobile telecommunications networks have spurred innovation in content and devices, which has transformed video programming, content delivery, and the way we communicate. John has worked tirelessly to increase the availability of communications services to all Arizonan households.

Arizona is a prime location for technology companies, both well-established businesses and cutting-edge start-ups. This is due to Arizona's pro-business policies, a well-qualified and highly-educated workforce, and the state's proximity to international markets. As our reliance on new technologies continues to grow, Arizona is poised to be at the forefront of the research, innovation and economic growth that this creates. John supports policies that will allow Arizona and our nation to remain competitive in a technology-driven future.

John believes a free and open Internet works and that there is no role for the federal government to regulate it. For this reason, John has been a leading opponent of the Federal Communication Commission's (FCC) implementation of so-called "network neutrality" rules, which would give the FCC new regulatory authority over the Internet. John also supports keeping Internet access free from all taxation to make sure consumers' Internet rates are low and encourage private-sector investment.
