In Florida, we are blessed with incredible natural resources -- and Randy Perkins believes we have a responsibility to be good stewards of the environment.
As our Congressman, protecting the waterways along the Treasure Coast will be one of Randy's top priorities. He will use his more than 20 years of experience working with the USACE and managing the recovery efforts of some of the nation's largest disaster events to work with the involved parties toward real solutions. Randy has spent years navigating bureaucracy and working in concert with all levels of government in order to solve catastrophic problems. This must be a collaborative effort of local, state, and federal governments along with all agencies and interested parties involved.
Randy has a comprehensive plan to address this issue by finally treating Lake Okeechobee and the resulting discharges like the major disaster it is. He believes we must fund approved projects and expedite the completion of existing ones. Randy supports buying the land south of Lake Okeechobee and he plans to work with the agricultural community in order to accomplish this. In Congress, he will deal with the challenges of water flowing into the lake from the north, expand water-farming projects, continue to strengthen our levies, and finish the infrastructure projects that can restore the natural flow of water. He strongly believes we must give all interested parties a seat at the table, including those of our protected species whose interests often go unheard. Only when all parties have a seat at the table will we be able to find the common ground needed to move forward in a coordinated and effective way.
With Randy's experience and skill set, he is uniquely qualified to tackle this vital issue that threatens our most precious natural resources and quality of life.
