Davis Statement on Exelon Announcement to Begin Shutdown Procedures at Clinton Nuclear Plant

Statement

Date: June 2, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today released the following statement after Exelon Corporation announced it would begin shutdown procedures for Clinton Power Station and Quad Cities Generating Station due to the lack of progress on Illinois energy legislation:

"I am extremely disappointed to hear of Exelon's announcement and continue to urge state legislative leaders to find a legislative solution that will allow Illinois' nuclear plants, including Clinton Power Station, to continue to provide low-cost, reliable energy to millions of families and prevent more than 4,000 people from losing their jobs. It's time to put politics aside, and find a solution that recognizes the benefits of nuclear energy and the economic opportunities it provides our state."

Davis, along other members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation, sent a letter earlier this month urging legislative leaders to take action to prevent the closure of Clinton Power Station and other nuclear plants throughout the state.
