Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement regarding the vote by House Republicans to block action on H.R. 1076, the bipartisan "No Fly, No Buy" legislation.

"Just two days after the largest mass shooting in modern American history, House Republicans had the opportunity to enact meaningful, bipartisan legislation that could close one of the most dangerous gun loopholes in the country, yet they caved to pressure from the powerful gun industry and failed the American people. The facts are clear: if you are too dangerous to fly, then you are too dangerous to buy a gun.

"Victims of gun violence deserve action and the American people demand it. Now is the time for Congress to stand up against the gun industry, grow a spine, and do something about the national gun violence epidemic that continues to shatter communities. We need to reinstate the assault weapons ban, end the ban on federal funding for gun violence research, and close the terrorist loophole. Let us do it for our children, our grandchildren, and the more than 32,000 Americans who will be gunned down this year."
