Issue Position: Access to Medical and Mental Health Care

Issue Position

Beaufort County has experienced the closing of a rural hospital. Dare County has experienced the closing of a clinic on Hatteras Island. The people of Washington County are concerned on a daily basis as to the viability of their hospital in Plymouth. I know that without the help of the non-profit organization, Rural Health, Hyde County would have even more challenges in providing adequate health care for its citizens. This is simply unacceptable. As the most powerful, developed, and industrialized Nation on earth, it is shameful that millions of our people struggle every day with access to health care. Every North Carolinian regardless of where he or she lives, should be able to have access to a health care facility that provides high quality care. I will work with the Governor, the legislature, and key health care stakeholders to provide the range of health care services that are needed in House District 6.
