U.S. Representative Mike Coffman (CO-06) was awarded the National Association of Community Health Center's Distinguished Community Health Advocate Award for his work in supporting the Metro Community Health Providers Network (MCPN) and Salud Family Health Centers in the Sixth District of Colorado.

"I am honored to receive this award and support the important work of MCPN and the Salud Clinic. These two health centers have been tremendously successful in expanding health care to the underserved, uninsured, and underinsured in Colorado."

Community Health Centers provide comprehensive primary health care services to medically underserved communities and vulnerable individuals and families with otherwise limited access to health care. Health Centers operate as locally owned community organizations at nearly 9,000 sites across the nation.

"Rep. Coffman has consistently supported continued federal funding to help Community Health Centers do what we do: helping people in our communities stay healthy, continue working or going to school, and take care of their families. He has been especially supportive of the role that Community Health Centers can play in supporting our veterans. We were happy to have the opportunity to say thank you by presenting him with a 2016 Distinguished Community Health Advocate Award from the National Association of Community Health Centers," said Annette Kowal, president and CEO of Colorado Community Health Network.
