The primary role given to the federal government by the Constitution is to defend the United States from its enemies Thus, Jim Hagedorn believes in the Reagan principles of "trust but verify" and "peace through strength which will allow us to project strength and deter aggression while supporting our allies throughout the world.

Jim Hagedorn recognizes that we live in a dangerous world that requires bold, resolute solutions to protect our families from those who seek to destroy our way of life.
