Governor Hassan's Statement on Signing SB 545

Press Release

Date: May 19, 2016
Location: Concord, NH

Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after today signing Senate Bill 545, proclaiming February as Cancer Prevention Month, February 4 as Cancer Prevention Day, and August as Cure All Cancer Month:

"As one of the leading causes of death across the country and with its widespread impact on citizens across New Hampshire, cancer has touched the lives of nearly everyone, either directly or indirectly. We must continue to combat this disease together, offering our support, encouragement and love to those who are battling cancer and remembering those we have lost to it. By establishing several cancer-related proclamations, Senate Bill 545 builds on our efforts to foster public awareness to encourage early detection and prompt treatment of cancer, while also paying tribute to cancer survivors, caregivers and loved ones lost to this horrible disease.

"I thank legislators from both parties, advocates, and patients and families across the state for their efforts in the fight against cancer, and I am proud to sign this bipartisan bill into law to help us continue empowering individuals and communities to fight back against cancer."
