Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement on the New Hampshire House of Representatives' bipartisan vote to pass Senate Bill 533, which was part of the comprehensive package of legislation the Governor proposed last November and provides additional resources for substance misuse prevention, treatment and recovery:

"Strengthening our prevention, treatment and recovery efforts and removing the stigma of addiction remain critical parts of our comprehensive approach to combat the heroin and opioid crisis in New Hampshire. Senate Bill 533 provides critical resources to support those efforts through providing funding for prevention, treatment and recovery providers and for supportive housing to assist thousands of additional Granite Staters in treatment and recovery."

"Today's vote is another important step forward in our comprehensive approach to stem -- and reverse -- the tide of this horrible epidemic. It is my hope that the Senate and House will quickly work together to finalize this legislation, and send it to my desk for signature."
