Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) today voted for an amendment to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development appropriations bill that provides additional funding for wind energy research. The base text of the bill included $30 million that Gardner secured for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located in Golden, CO, to maintain its research activities at the National Wind Technology Center and sustain jobs.

"NREL is a leader in clean energy, and it's important that it has the resources it needs to continue its research and development activities," said Gardner. "That's why I worked to ensure that NREL's innovation and the jobs it supports are reflected in the appropriations bill. NREL is an asset not only to Colorado, but our country and today's bipartisan vote recognizes the research and development in wind technology done there."
