Sean is committed to protecting Social Security and Medicare for future generations; in Congress, he has opposed efforts to end Medicare's guaranteed benefits, privatize Social Security, or raise the retirement age. In fact, Sean wants to increase Social Security benefits for Hudson Valley seniors by closing corporate tax loopholes used by some to avoid payroll taxes.

Sean opposes Tea Party Congresswoman Nan Hayworth's plan to privatize Social Security, a scheme that would put seniors' promised benefits and the future of the program at risk by giving the money to Wall Street and gambling on the stock market. If the plan Hayworth supports had been implemented before the economy collapsed, seniors would have lost 40% of their benefits.
