Blackburn Joins Rural Broadband Caucus

Statement

Date: Feb. 4, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) today joined colleagues in the newly launched Rural Broadband Caucus. This is a bipartisan effort by members of Congress who have rural, underserved communities to facilitate discussion and develop policy solutions to the digital divide that exists in rural America.

"Over half of all rural Americans lack access to broadband, many of whom live in Tennessee's Seventh Congressional District. This deficiency affects our rural communities' ability to meet public safety needs, deliver top-notch education and grow businesses that thrive. Reliable, high-speed internet service is vital to Tennessee's economy and we must find solutions to ensure our communities receive this critical service.

"As a member of the Rural Broadband Caucus I look forward to leading this conversation and advocating for the rural areas in Tennessee that have the greatest need," Blackburn said.
