Coats Supports Veterans Funding Bill

Statement

Date: Nov. 10, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, today issued the following statement after voting for the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act:

"The United States is a great and prosperous country today largely because of the brave men and women who have served our nation in uniform. We have a duty to remember, honor and support those who have sacrificed so much to protect and defend our country.

"One of the most essential functions of the federal government is to provide for our military and veterans. This important, bipartisan bill provides health care services and other benefits for our veterans. It also funds military housing, family support services and upgrades in benefit claims processing and medical research."

The legislation passed the Senate 93 to 0. The House of Representatives passed similar legislation in April, and a joint House/Senate Conference Committee will now iron out the differences between the House and Senate versions.
