One Step Closer to New North Korea Sanctions

Statement

Date: Feb. 10, 2016
Location: Washington D.C.

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) today issued the following statement after the Senate passed H.R. 757, the North Korea Sanctions and Policy Enhancement Act, which strengthens sanctions against North Korea. The amended bill now returns to the House for final consideration.

"This dictatorial regime must learn that its actions have consequences. North Korea's provocative long-range missile test this past weekend underscores the need to ratchet up pressure on this rogue nation, and the United States will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our allies against this aggression. I applaud the Senate for approving this timely, bipartisan legislation, and I look forward to putting a sanctions bill on the president's desk."
