Hoyer Statement on Postponement of Vote to Override President's Veto of GOP Reconciliation Bill

Statement

Date: Jan. 8, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after Republicans adopted a motion to postpone a vote to override the President's veto of their bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act and defund Planned Parenthood:

"I was disappointed that Republicans adopted a motion to postpone until January 26 a vote to override the President's veto of their bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act and defund Planned Parenthood. Democrats welcome the opportunity to demonstrate that Congress does not have the votes to override the President's veto. Notwithstanding any postponement, Democrats have the votes to sustain the veto and defend the critical health care reforms that have helped millions of Americans attain coverage."
