Location: Newark, NJ

U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker today announced the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has been awarded $2.1 million in federal Sandy Recovery funding to purchase and install a permanent generator to provide emergency backup power at the Department's Data Center in Trenton. The funds are provided through the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

"More than three years after Superstorm Sandy, we're still working to repair, recover and most importantly, to rebuild stronger and more resilient than before," said Sen. Menendez. "This grant will help ensure the state's critical data centers -- like this one in Trenton -- stay online before, during and after the next big storm."

"More than three years after Superstorm Sandy's devastation, it's critical that the federal government works with our local partners to ensure New Jersey communities are rebuilt stronger and more resilient," said Sen. Booker. "Although there is still more work to be done to make New Jersey whole again, this federal grant brings us one step further down the path to full recovery."
