Governor McCrory Encourages North Carolinians to Participate in First Day Hikes on January 1

Governor Pat McCrory encourages North Carolinians to ring in the New Year by visiting one of our treasured state parks to participate in a First Day Hike. The 2016 centennial of North Carolina's state parks system will launch with First Day Hikes, an opportunity for the state's residents and visitors to begin the New Year with exercise, family adventure and a reconnection with nature.

"Our vast state park system, ranging from the mountains to the coast, contributes significantly to North Carolina's superb quality of life," Governor McCrory said. "First Day Hikes are a longstanding tradition in our state and I encourage all to participate on January 1."
