Many have seen my billboards or bumper stickers. "My Gun My Right." These were put up and seen before Illinois was mandated by the courts to pass a Conceal Carry bill. Soon after, we passed Conceal Carry and I was a proud co-sponsor of the bill. Our Constitution is clear about our right to bear arms. The Second Amendment states, "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Every law-abiding citizen has the right to own and carry a gun as a right of free people; to protect ourselves and our families. It's also a right that is a guarantor of our Freedom from a government that would obtain power through tyranny. Our Declaration of Independence affirms that we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable Rights of which the Second Amendment is merely one. Unalienable rights means they cannot be given away or taken away.
