Hoyer Statement on Veterans Day

Statement

Date: Nov. 11, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement today in recognition of Veterans Day:

"I join in marking Veterans Day, a day on which we honor the courageous men and women who have risked their lives in defense of our security and our freedom. We are forever grateful to those who served our nation in uniform and who gave so much to preserve the values of democracy, liberty, and equal opportunity upon which America was built.

"That is why today -- and every day -- we must recommit ourselves to ensuring that we demonstrate the same commitment to our nation's veterans that they have shown us by ensuring they have the support and resources they need when they come home. Through skills training and civilian job placement to quality health care and affordable education, we must ensure that the brave men and women who have worn our nation's uniform receive the benefits they earned by wearing it. We must never forget our obligations to those who served honorably, as well as those who continue to serve courageously in defense of our liberty today."
