Woodall Statement on Budget Reconciliation Repeal of Obamacare

Today, U.S. Representative Rob Woodall (GA 07) issued the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 3762, the "Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act" to repeal significant elements of Obamacare -- including the employer and individual mandates, the so-called "Cadillac Tax" on high-end insurance plans, the medical device tax, and the auto-enrollment requirements placed on employers and employees. The House-passed legislation -- which will only require 51 votes in the Senate under the Budget Reconciliation process -- also places a one-year moratorium on Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood, and directs resources to community health centers across the country for women's health care.

"Since its hurried, one-sided beginning, Obamacare has forced the harsh realities of fewer choices, lower quality and higher health care costs on countless families across the country," said Rep. Woodall. "Today's vote addresses America's spending problem while also closing shop on the most damaging and intrusive aspects of the President's health care law. While there is much more to do, I'm proud of the steps the House took today, and with only 51 votes needed in the Senate to overcome filibuster, am confident we can move this important legislation to the President's desk. It is my hope that America speaks with a loud voice urging the Senate to do just that."

Congressman Woodall represents the Seventh Congressional District of Georgia, which includes the majority of Forsyth and Gwinnett counties, and currently serves as Chairman of the Rules Subcommittee on Legislative and Budget Process, as well as serving on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, and Budget Committee.
