Vice Chair Crowley Statement on Women's Equality Day

Statement

Date: Aug. 26, 2015
Issues: Women

Today, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus, released the following statement commemorating Women's Equality Day, which recognizes the ratification of the 19th Amendment:

"Today, we celebrate the 95th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. Though we have made great progress in becoming a more equal and just nation, there is still work to do. Women deserve equal pay for equal work, reliable and affordable child care, paid family and sick leave, and the opportunity to save for retirement and the future. On this Women's Equality Day, we reflect on the work of generations of women who fought for a full and equal voice, and reenergize our efforts to ensure equal opportunity for every American."
