Lance: No Funds For Planned Parenthood During Investigation

Press Release

Date: Sept. 18, 2015

Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today released the following statement after the House passed two measures (H.R. 3504 and H.R. 3134) cracking down on Planned Parenthood -- the first legislative response to videos showing the abortion provider's tissue harvesting practices.

"Like many Americans I continue to be disturbed deeply by reports and videos surrounding Planned Parenthood. Today the House has rightfully acted in a bipartisan capacity to defund Planned Parenthood while we continue our congressional investigation into its troubling practices," said Lance.

A champion of Community Health Centers, the 7th District lawmaker also noted that the bill includes legislative language providing $235 million to Federally Qualified Health Centers in support of women's health care. "Community health centers and other qualified facilities provide an array of preventative and pre-natal healthcare services for women and children and are deserving of our federal tax funds."

The votes on the House floor come as Lance's Energy and Commerce Committee continues its investigation into Planned Parenthood.

"I am confident that the Energy and Commerce Committee will use every investigative tool possible to get to the facts behind unethical and potentially unlawful actions," concluded the 7th District lawmaker.
