Roe Opposes President Obama's Iran Deal

Statement

Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-TN) released the following statement after voting on a series of bills to express his opposition to the Obama administration's nuclear deal with Iran:

"It has been clear for months now that the administration wants to come to an agreement with Iran at any cost, even though many experts agree this deal compromises American safety, security and stability. With this deal, I strongly believe the Iranians will continue to march on toward a nuclear bomb. Worse, we still do not have clear information about the side deals that we only recently found out existed. The Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act required President Obama to submit the agreement in its entirety to Congress, but once again, the president has chosen to ignore the law. Developing a nuclear bomb is offensive warfare, not defensive, and Iran is the chief sponsor for state-supported terrorism in the world. This is not a Republican or Democrat issue -- this is an American issue.

"This misguided and dangerous deal must be stopped, and I strongly oppose it. I will ask the question again: what part of "Death to America" does this president not understand? I am pleased the House also acted on legislation to prevent the president from lifting the current sanctions on Iran. President Obama's job is to look out for American interests, and this agreement does not do enough to protect America and the rest of the world from a nuclear Iran."
