Care in Action

Description

Care in Action is a nonprofit, nonpartisan group dedicated to fighting for dignity and fairness for the millions of domestic workers in the United States, most of whom are women of color and immigrant women. Founded in 2016, Care in Action is backed by tens of thousands of nannies, house cleaners, and care workers across the country. Care in Action works to elevate the voices of women of color. We provide the tools, training, and community working families need to make their voices heard, and organize and advocate for respect, recognition, and inclusion in labor protections. Everyone deserves a fair wage and to feel safe in their workplace. Everyone deserves to be able to take a day off when they are sick. Everyone deserves to be able to care for their families without worrying about how they will pay the bills. Too often, it's women of color that have to make difficult choices between these, because we aren't represented in our government and policies aren't made to include us. Care in Action is dedicated to organizing women of color and building a coalition to make change. We're fighting for the representation we deserve, for policies that value care and the work domestic workers do every day to care for our loved ones, and for the policies that support us in taking care of our own families.
