My top legislative priority would be to stimulate Michigan's economy to help create good paying jobs. The automobile industry and automobile related manufacturing is facing a major recession. Manufacturing jobs are being lost to cheaper foreign labor, due to unfair trade agreements and an unlevel playing field that favors cheap foreign labor at the expense of Michigan workers. We must continue must continue to work to diversify Michigan's economy and to provide incentives for businesses to create jobs here in Michigan. I have sponsored legislation requiring Michigan Businesses to Hire Michigan Residents First, and to refuse to hire undocumented workers. |
