What is the Political Courage Test?

Maryland Congressional Election 2016 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
If I could sum up a theme of the pro-life effort, it would be this: Protect them both. Love them both. Not the child to the exclusion of the mother, and not the mother to the exclusion of the child. Love them both. And that is what being pro-life, in my view, is all about. "Unless and until it can be proven that the unborn child is not a living entity, then its life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness must be protected." - President Ronald Reagan
In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Growing our economy and lowering taxes. Congress should curb spending and pass tax cuts. I favor a Balanced Budget Amendment. We can live within our means by simply going to zero-based budgeting, rather than current base-line, incremental budgeting in which more funds are just added to last year's budget. Zero-based requires managers to justify all of their budgeted expenditures each year.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
"We the people" should be the only ones contributing to campaigns. And we should modify election laws accordingly.
Yes Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
Yes Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
No Do you support mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders?
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation?
Taxes must be lowered in order to stimulate growth. Starting with the Corp tax rate and extending to Sub-S and personal income rates.
No Do you generally support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Education should always be controlled locally. The Federal government has no business controlling any aspect of education.
Yes Do you support building the Keystone XL pipeline?
No Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
No Do you support increased regulations on the hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") industry?
Private industry should be responsible for its own expenses and not subsidized by any federal taxpayer funds. Industry regulation is only necessary when damages can be proven, not simply suspected.
No Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Everyone wants clean air, water, land, and food. Man-made climate change is highly controversial and anyone seeing the Earth from 30,000 feet can see how big the planet is and how relatively small man is. The 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo (Philippines) was estimated to have contributed more pollution than the entire Industrial Revolution combined, dropping the global temp by 1 degree - and the planet recovered - all by itself within a few short years. Industry regulation is only necessary when damages can be proven, not simply suspected.
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
I am a strong 2nd Amendment advocate. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. When guns are outlawed (over-regulated), only outlaws have guns. High ownership and even open carry areas are some of the safest areas in the country. I do favor strict sentencing for gun crime however. Gun-control, and eventual outlawing, is a liberal scheme as a key component of total control of the citizens. Registration, Limitation, Confiscation.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Repeal & replace because Obamacare is Medical Socialism - redistribution of wealth: 1. In order to insure the uninsured, it first had to uninsure the insured. 2. Next, it required the newly uninsured to be re-insured. 3. To re-insure the newly uninsured, they are required to pay extra charges to be re-insured and their deductibles went up. 4. The extra charges are required so that the original insured, who became uninsured, and then became re-insured, can pay enough extra so that the original uninsured can be insured, so it will be 'free-of-charge' to them.
Yes Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Any sort of amnesty should not be the reward for breaking the law. Breaking in line is also unjust to those who did it the legal way.
No Do you support same-sex marriage?
Yes Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the United States from possessing a nuclear weapon?
Yes Do you support increased American intervention in Iraq and Syria beyond air support?
Why let an enemy gain any nuclear advantage? An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
Yes Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
Had this been an option years ago, SS would not be in the downward spiral it is in with fewer and fewer contributing to pay for more and more.

History teaches that reducing taxes grows our economy which ultimately produces more income from a larger taxable pool.
My theme: Putting People & Principles over Parties & Politics. We are under-employed, over-regulated, over-taxed and overly in debt. My Priorities: 1. My "Vaughn Plan for Baltimore," 2. Security- national, border, cyber, 3. Education- return to local control and money to follow the child, 4. Tax Reform- to grow jobs and the economy.
